Turning Point
Last Sunday I visited a very exciting group of the L.A. Church. It used to be called the Arts, Media and Sports (AMS) Region, but it has been renamed the Turning Point Christian Church. Although it continues to be affiliated with the L.A. Church, they’ve developed some very innovative approaches to worship and ministry.
I don’t have words to describe the experience. Maybe “blown away”. The Sunday service was so inspiring and dynamic that, if I was a first time visitor, I would want to go back again and again. There was great worship music, a great lesson by evangelist Kevin Holland, recognitions of several individuals in the church who have graduated from school or distinguished themselves by serving others in various ways, … all in all, a complete package of spiritually uplifting content.
I was there to do a presentation on Mexico and Central America missions because on that day they were raising a special contribution for missions. My son, who will be attending a performing arts school in the L.A. area this fall, went with me. He was thrilled! He met many of the members and is already “hooked up” with other disciples in the performing arts field for when he moves up there to start school. (Thank you, brothers and sisters, specially Kevin, Christian, Jamal, Juliette, Georgette … oh, so many, for making my son and I feel so at home!)

This year the Turning Point is sponsoring two short mission tours, one to El Salvador and one to Costa Rica. The church’s response to our MCA Missions presentation was enthusiastic and heartsy. I am very proud to have this ministry as one of our partners in MCA Missions.
If you want to know more about the Turning Point please go to their website, and prepare to be amazed!
